It is generally in your best interest to listen to what they have to say. They will be honest about what looks best on you. As you get older, family values may continue to infl uence your clothing choices. Your friends are often your peers. You may enjoy having their opinions about the clothes that you buy. However, peer pressure may create problems when buying clothes. Your friends may try to persuade you to buy a garment that is not a good choice for you. This could be a garment that will not go with anything else in your wardrobe. It could be an item that costs more than you should spend. When you shop for clothes, keep your best colors and styles and what you already own in mind. It is fi ne to listen to your friends’ opinions, but the fi nal decision is yours. See 1-9. Cost The amount of money a person has to spend on clothes is often a key fac- tor in making clothing choices. Your clothing budget affects the decisions you make about clothes. Few people have an unlimited amount of money to spend on clothes. If you plan your spending wisely, you can buy the clothes you need.
