Specify a point to insert the block. To insert a drawing or DXF fi le using DesignCenter, use the Tree View pane to locate and select a folder to display the contents of the folder in the Content pane. Drag and drop or copy and paste the fi le from the Content pane into the current drawing. You can also right-click a fi le icon in the Content pane and select Insert as Block…. NOTE NOTE Blocks are inserted from DesignCenter based on the type of block units you specify when you create the block. For example, if the original block was a 1 × 1 square and you specifi ed the block units as feet when you created the block, then the block inserts as a 12″ × 12″ square. Inserting Blocks Using Tool Palettes The Tool Palettes palette, shown in Figure 24-9, provides another means of storing and inserting blocks. AutoCAD refers to blocks in a tool palette as block insertion tools. Tool palettes can also store and activate other drawing content and tools, such as hatch patterns and AutoCAD commands. Inserting a block from the Tool Palettes palette is similar to using the Blocks palette. Access the tool palette (tab) containing the block and hover over the block icon to display the name and description. Pick on the block or use a drag-and-drop operation to insert the block into the drawing. The pick method offers an advantage over drag-and-drop by presenting options for adjusting the insertion base point, scale, and rotation.
