As you work through each chapter, exercises on the companion website are refer-
enced. The exercises are intended to be completed as the references are encountered
in the text. The solid modeling tutorial in Appendix A should be completed after
Chapter 14. The surface modeling tutorial in Appendix B should be completed after
Chapter 10. The remaining appendix material is intended as reference material.
Also included on the companion website are the exercise activities. The exercise activi-
ties are intended to supplement the exercises on the companion website. These activities are
referenced within the appropriate exercises and can be completed as additional practice.
About the Authors About the Authors
Terence M. Shumaker is Faculty Emeritus, the former Chairperson of the Drafting
Technology Department, and former Director of the Autodesk Premier Training Center
at Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, OR. Terence taught at the commu-
nity college level for over 28 years. He worked as a training consultant for Autodesk,
Inc., and conducted CAD program development workshops around the country. He
has professional experience in surveying, civil drafting, industrial piping, and tech-
nical illustration. He is the author of Goodheart-Willcox’s Process Pipe Drafting
and coauthor of the AutoCAD and Its Applications series (Releases 10 through 2012
editions) and AutoCAD Essentials.
David A. Madsen is the president of Madsen Designs Inc. (www.madsendesigns.com).
David is Faculty Emeritus and the former Chairperson of Drafting Technology and the
Autodesk Premier Training Center at Clackamas Community College in Oregon City,
OR. David was an instructor and a department chairperson at Clackamas Community
College for nearly 30 years. In addition to teaching at the community college level,
David was a Drafting Technology instructor at Centennial High School in Gresham,
OR. David is a former member of the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA)
Board of Directors. He was honored with Director Emeritus status by the ADDA
in 2005. David has extensive experience in mechanical drafting, architectural design
and drafting, and building construction. He holds a Master of Education degree in
Vocational Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Education.
David is coauthor of the AutoCAD and Its Applications series (Releases 10 through
2012 editions), Architectural Drafting Using AutoCAD, D Geometric Dimensioning and
Tolerancing, and other drafting and design textbooks. g g
Jeffrey A. Laurich has been an instructor in Mechanical Design Technology at
Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, WI, since 1991. He has also taught busi-
ness and industry professionals in the Autodesk Premier Training Center at FVTC.
Jeff teaches drafting, AutoCAD, Design of Tooling, GD&T, and 3ds Max. He created
a certificate program at FVTC entitled Computer Rendering and Animation that inte- fi
grates the 3D capabilities of AutoCAD and 3ds Max. Jeff has professional experience in
furniture design, surveying, and cartography and holds a degree in Natural Resources
Technology. In his consulting business, Jeff uses 3ds Max to create renderings and
animations for manufacturers and architects.
J.C. Malitzke is president/owner of Digital JC CAD Services Inc. (digitaljccad.com).
He is the former department chair of Computer Integrated Technologies at Moraine
Valley Community College in Palos Hills, IL. J.C. was a professor of Mechanical Design
and Drafting/CAD and taught for the Authorized Autodesk Training Center at Moraine
Valley. J.C. has been teaching for 36 years and actively using and teaching Autodesk
products for nearly 27 years. He is a founding member and past chair of the Autodesk
Training Center Executive Committee and the Autodesk Leadership Council. J.C. has
been the coauthor and principal investigator on two National Science Foundation
grants. He has won numerous awards, including: Drafting Educator of the Year by the
