Copyright Goodheart-Willcox Co., Inc. 300 AutoCAD and Its Applications—Advanced Offsetting Edges The OFFSETEDGE command allows you to offset the edges of a planar face to create a new, closed object on the same plane as the existing face. The new object is a closed polyline or spline that can then be used to create a new 3D object. The planar face you offset can be on a 3D solid or surface model. After entering the OFFSETEDGE command, select the face and then pick a point inside or outside of the existing edge. The point you pick determines where the offset is created. You can also use the Distance option to create the offset at a specifi c distance from the existing edge. The OFFSETEDGE command allows you to continue selecting faces to create offsets until you press [Esc] or [Enter]. The procedure is similar to that used with the OFFSET command.
