Copyright Goodheart-Willcox Co., Inc. 426 AutoCAD and Its Applications—Advanced X-Ray This visual style is very similar to the Shaded with Edges visual style, except the Opacity property is set to 50%. This makes objects appear somewhat transparent. PROFESSIONAL TIP PROFESSIONAL TIP Depending on the visual style chosen, drawing window colors for individual elements such as the background, grid lines, crosshairs, etc., may need to be adjusted to make it easier to see and work with the objects in the drawing. Access the Options dialog box and select the Colors… button in the Display tab to change these settings in the Drawing Window Colors dialog box. Colors used with 2D model space, 3D parallel projection, and 3D perspective projection are controlled separately. Common Visual Style Settings With the exception of 2D Wireframe, all of the visual styles share similar catego- ries and settings in the Visual Styles Manager. The visual styles have Face Settings, Lighting, Environment Settings, and Edge Settings categories. See Figure 16-9. These categories and the properties available in them are discussed in the next sections. Face Settings The Face style property controls the VSFACESTYLE system variable. The options have slightly different names, but are the same as the No Face Style, Realistic Face Style, and Warm-Cool Face Style options available by selecting the buttons in the Visual Styles panel on the Visualize tab of the ribbon. Remember, though, selecting a button on the ribbon does not redefi ne the visual style in the current drawing. Rather, it is a temporary change to the viewport display.
