304 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Copyright Goodheart-Willcox Co., Inc. Angularity of an Axis The axis of a hole or other cylindrical feature can be oriented with an angularity tol- erance to a datum plane or datum axis. This control can establish a tolerance zone defined by two parallel planes equally spaced on each side of the specified basic angle from a datum plane or axis between which the axis of the related feature must lie. This control only applies to the view in which it is specified. The feature control frame appears next to the feature diameter dimension to specify axis control, as shown in Example 7-21. It is also possible to control the feature axis within a cylindrical angularity toler- ance zone. To do this, a diameter symbol is placed in front of the geometric tolerance in the feature control frame. This shows that the angularity tolerance zone is cylindrical. See Example 7-22.
