Chapter 4 Common Offi ce Application Features 127 Copyright Goodheart-Willcox Co., Inc. 3D images, the frame will grow or shrink when the handles are used, but the proportions of the 3D model itself will not change no matter which handle you use. The location of an image can be adjusted by dragging the frame. Click on the selected image, not on a handle, and drag the image to a new location. Note that depending on how the image was inserted, its position may be locked. To align the text around, through, above, or below an object, select the object. An on-demand tab named Format appears on the ribbon. Click Format Arrange Wrap Text to display a drop-down menu. You can also right-click the image or model to display a shortcut menu. Click Wrap Text in the shortcut menu to display a cascading menu with multiple options for text wrapping. After images have been placed and sized accordingly, they may need to be reordered. Consider a document or fi le in which multiple images are stacked on top of one another with some overlap. There is an order associated with that set of images. For both 2D and 3D images, there are two main options used to manage the order of images. Selecting the Bring Forward option moves the selected object one level up in the stack. The Send Backward option moves the object one level down in the stack. Each of these also has its own drop-down menu with additional options. Once the objects have been properly ordered, they can be further grouped and aligned. Grouping objects allows any edits or relocations to be done to all objects in the group in a single operation. To group objects, press and hold the [Ctrl] key while selecting the objects with the mouse. Then, click Format Arrange Group. It is a good idea to group the 2D images and 3D models separately. Aligning objects ensures they are distributed to the left, center, right, top, middle, or bottom of a page or slide. This is done by selecting the object and clicking Format Arrange Align. Alignment tools such as guidelines and grids can help when placing images and media fi les. To toggle alignment tools on or off, select View Show on the ribbon. Check the boxes next to Ruler, Gridlines, and Guides to turn these tools on. Uncheck the boxes to turn them off. Cropping an Image In some cases, only part of the image is needed. For example, a photograph may show a group of people but only one person needs to be displayed. It is possible to cut away the rest of the photograph. To crop an image is to trim the outer portion. To crop a 2D image in Microsoft Offi ce, fi rst select it. Then, click Format Size Crop on the ribbon. New handles are displayed on the image. They are thick black lines. Click one of the handles and drag inward to specify the area to keep. The portion that will be cropped is grayed out. The size of the image will be reduced without changing the proportions by removing the portion of the image that is grayed out. To complete the operation, click anywhere outside of the image. This cannot be done with 3D models. Word 5.4.2 PowerPoint 3.5.1 PowerPoint 3.5.3 PowerPoint 3.5.2, 3.5.4 GS5 Key Applications 7.2 PowerPoint 3.3.1
