Inserting a 3D Model Adding 3D models can stimulate enthusiasm for a document or presentation, or emphasize its message. However, 3D models must be used with respect for the audience’s tolerance for such imagery— especially animated 3D models. Some people may be distracted by excessive movement. Also, if you choose an animated 3D model, it uses 100 times more memory than a standard 3D image. In this example, you will add a 3D model to encourage teens to exercise. 1. Launch Microsoft Word and enter the following text in a blank document. Proper exercise is an important part of becoming a healthy adult. That means cutting back on watch- ing television, playing video games, or surfing the Internet in order to work your body. 2. Place the insertion point at the beginning of the text. 3. Click Insert Illustrations 3D Models. The Online 3D Models dialog box is displayed. Choose the Avatars category. 4. Choose an avatar that looks like a teen, and click it to select this model. Press the Insert(1) button at the lower right of the window. 5. Notice that the text does not move away from the model. Click directly on the image to se- lect it, and then click the Layout Options button that appears to the upper right of the image. 6. Under the category With Text Wrapping, choose Square. The text will move to the right of the 3D model. Close the Layout Options menu by clicking the close button (X) in the upper-right corner. 7. With the model selected, click on the curved-arrow button that appears in the middle of the selection box to rotate the model slightly to the right. 3D Models Select a location Hands-On Example 4.3.2 First, select the model.
