The document is displayed in spreads. A spread is a left- and right-hand page displayed side by side. The user can easily move from spread to spread using the controls in the view. However, the ribbon is not displayed. This is the only overall view in Word in which the document cannot be edited. To display the reading mode view, click View Views Read Mode in the ribbon. Zooming Zooming is changing the magnifi cation of the view. There are several commands in the View Zoom area of the ribbon that can be used to change the magnifi cation level. Clicking the Zoom button displays the Zoom dialog box in which a magnifi cation level can be selected. Clicking the 100% button sets the magnifi cation level to actual size. The magnifi cation level can also be adjusted using the slider at the lower-right corner of the application window. Depending on the Offi ce application, there are also options for displaying one or two full pages, setting the magnifi cation to the width of the document page, zooming to the selection, and fi tting the document in the window. Protected Views A protected view is one in which most or all of the editing functions have been locked.
