FCCLA Activities Build Leaders
Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)
helps students develop leadership skills while addressing important
personal, family, work, and societal issues. As the only in-school student
organization with the family as its focus, FCCLA is an ideal companion
to Contemporary Living and other courses in your school’s family and
consumer sciences program.
In studying this text, you will see FCCLA activities provided at the
end of each chapter. These hands-on projects help students
develop character
analyze and solve problems
apply academic and communication skills
build relationships
recognize the value of diversity
establish positive work-related attitudes and habits
Chapter 14’s “Teen Focus” provides more information on FCCLA,
spotlighting several of the organization’s programs and their value
to students. To learn more about how to expand your involvement in
FCCLA or start a chapter in your school, visit www.fcclainc.org.
