With the switch on, note the buzzer and displayed value. Record. 20. Set the meter for capacitor test. Probe the capacitor. Record value. 21. Calculate the accuracy for the capacitor measurement and record. Refer to Lab 10.1, if needed. 22. Set the meter for diode test. Refer to the diode test and the owner’s manual. 23. Test and record the forward bias displayed value. 24. Test and record the reverse bias displayed value. 25. Remove the resistor and place hot wire to the original position. 26. Get approval from your instructor before plugging in the board. Turn the switch off. Plug in board. 27. Set the meter for NCV function. 28. Place NCV antenna near hot terminal along the board including the bulb sockets. 29. Turn on the switch, and place NCV near bulb socket. Note the proximity between the antenna and hot terminal to cause the meter to sound and/or light an indicator lamp. 30. Set the meter for temperature and connect the thermocouple. Measure the ambient temperature and record. 31. Read the temperature calibration instructions (not available on some meters) and prepare to calibrate. 32. Crush ice and fill the cup with a 50/50 mix of crushed ice and water. Stir well. This mixture is at 32°F. 33. Place the probe in saturated mixture. Do not directly put thermocouple on ice—suspend it between ice chips. Proceed to calibrate per meter instructions. 34. After calibration, measure the ambient temperature and record.
