have the role of son, daughter, stepdaughter,
or stepson. In this role, one of your
responsibilities is to obey your parents.

Parents
Children are affected throughout their lives by many adults. Children,
however, have a special relationship with their parents. Mothers,
fathers, foster parents, and guardians are responsible for the growth and
development of their children. They care for and protect their children.
They help their children to be the best they can be.
Relationships with their parents affect teens’ growth and development.
Parents care about their children. They are concerned about what happens
to them today and in the future. They offer advice based on their life
experiences. They hope their advice will be helpful.
Teens may not always agree with their parents. They may feel their
parents do not understand their feelings or friends. They may wonder why
their parents act as they do.
Having these thoughts and feelings is normal. Teens should share them
with their parents. Communication with parents is important. By talking to
parents, teens can learn to understand and respect their parents’ feelings.
In addition to having the role of daughter,
this young girl also has the role of sister.
