into notebooks. They are used for gathering
accessories, organizing alterations that are
done to make garments fi t properly, and writing
the commentary. Extra garments pulled from
inventory should also be tried on by models and
listed on fi tting sheets, in case substitutions are
made in the lineup before the show. Bags that
contain the accessories for each outfi t are looped
over the tops of the garment hangers, 23-18.
Finally, the garments and accessories are
covered with plastic bags, packed, and transferred
to the show location, 23-19. Garments are pressed
or steamed at the show site to eliminate wrinkles.
See 23-20. Hangtags are hidden or removed and
reattached after the show. Shoes are kept in their
original boxes, with masking tape sometimes applied
to the bottoms, to keep them clean while being worn.
Then they can be sold as new after removing the
tape. In some shows, models wear their own shoes.
Individual model lineup sheets, 23-21, help
models clarify their order of appearance, outfi ts, and
other details. It has written descriptions, sketches,
swatches, or whatever is needed. The instructions
column might state whether the model is to appear
alone or as part of a group, is to remove a coat,
or should trade jackets with another model on the
runway to show mix-and-match possibilities.
Coordinating Physical
Layout, Music,
Choreography, and
Commentary
The physical layout, music, choreography,
and commentary must work together to enhance
the theme and make the fashion show run
smoothly. To the audience, the show should
seem as if it is effortlessly produced, with the
time passing pleasantly and quickly.

plastic bag placed over the jacket hanger.

23-19 Garments for fashion shows are
carefully transported to show sites on
hangers, protected from weather, soil, or
any other damage.
