the lineup, with his or her outfi ts placed together
and marked with a label on each hanger. Models
can most easily change when others with nearby
spaces are out on the runway. A cloth sheet
placed on the fl oor protects garments from dirt. A
full-length mirror is located for a last-minute look
where the models leave the dressing area, 23-24.
Most runways project straight out from the
stage. They are long enough to allow enough
time for the audience to react to each modeled
outfi t, but not be bored. The stage and runway
should be drawn to scale ahead of time to plan
the best dimensions, lighting, and building

23-22 By building the runway high off the
regular fl oor level, audience members can
see the fashions being modeled more clearly.

23-23 For this fashion show, all models
entered from the other side of the stage
and exited at this side of the stage. By
doing so, a clear pattern was established
for the models and there was a minimum of
confusion behind the scenes.

the dressing area to the stage, a full-length
mirror in a well-lit area must be available for
adjustments and fi nishing touches.
