PrintED Accreditation and Certification
Since 1983, The Graphic Arts Education and
Research Foundation (GAERF) has served to
advance knowledge and education in graphic
communications by supporting programs that
prepare a skilled workforce for the industry. The
PrintED accreditation program ensures instructional
content that is current, relevant, consistent across
the nation, and aligned with industry standards.
Graphic Communications has been thoroughly
reviewed by GAERF and is correlated to PrintED’s
“Introduction to Graphic Communications” Graphic
Communications Skills Competencies (GCSC). All
PrintED accredited programs must teach at least
85% of the competencies and meet the PrintED
standards in this area.
Students who pass any of the PrintED/SkillsUSA
Career Essentials: Assessments receive a
PrintED/SkillsUSA Student Certification. These
certifications provide students a way to validate
their mastery of academic and workplace
competencies and serve as a first step toward
a career path in the graphic
communications industry. For
more information on GAERF
and PrintED, please visit
www.gaerf.org.
