provides large amounts of information, but it is
not always reliable. It is important to check the
credibility of your sources before accepting the
information in them as facts.
Managing Resources
Managing your resources means using them
wisely. This is a skill that can be learned. First,
you must identify the resources you have and
know how they might be developed. Think about
your human qualities as resources. Good health,
a positive attitude, and your talents are examples

you try to use time productively? Your time is a
nonhuman resource that you can learn to manage.
Money can be used to buy goods and services.
The presence or lack of money will affect the deci-
sions you can make by shaping the options that
are doable. For instance, if one option costs more
money than you have, you know your decision
must match what you can afford.
Personal possessions can be resources for you
in some situations. A personal computer can be
a resource if you want to write and edit a paper.
The family car can be a resource to travel to and
from a job.
Community resources, including parks, zoos,
schools, museums, and stores, are shared with
others. A park provides recreational services. Your
school is a resource for education. Some people
use public transportation to get to work instead of
driving themselves.
Information is another important resource.
