Format Painter
A useful tool for formatting text is the format painter. The format
painter copies the formatting applied to selected text and then applies that r
formatting to a second text selection. To use the format painter, select the text
with the formatting to copy. Then, click
Home Clipboard Format Painter
in

the ribbon. Finally, click the text to which the formatting is to be applied.

Format Painter
There are times when formatting must be applied many times. For example, suppose a document
has important words in red and this must be changed to purple throughout. After reformatting the first fi
instance, the format painter can be used to apply the new formatting to the other important words.
1. Launch Microsoft Word, and open the file fi LastNameBaltimore1 from the

folder on
your fl ash drive, if it is not already open. fl

3. Applying what you have learned, change the size of the text to 12 points.
4. With the text selected, click the
Font
drop-down arrow in the

group on the

the ribbon, and click
Garamond
in the drop-down list. If Garamond is not available, select a
different typeface.

Format Painter
button in the
Clipboard
group on the
Home
tab of the ribbon. The cursor changes to a paintbrush.
6. Select the line of text that states

Baltimore. The text assumes all of the formatting applied
