Replace the filler cap and wipe any spilled oil from the engine. 19. Start the engine and watch the oil pressure light or gauge. The light should go out or the gauge should begin to register within 10 to 20 seconds. If it does not, stop the engine immediately and locate the problem. 20. Raise the vehicle and check for leaks from the oil filter and drain plug. Are there any leaks? Lower the vehicle and stop the engine. 22. Allow the engine to sit for several minutes. 23. Recheck the oil level. Is the level correct? Yes ___ No ___ If the level is low, add oil until the dipstick reads full. Note Before returning a vehicle to a customer, always inspect the work area and passenger compartment to ensure that all tools, parts, and debris related to the service have been picked up. Some companies may want the disposable floor mats and protective covers left in place until the customer takes possession of the vehicle.
