New to This Edition
The following changes have been made to the 13th edition of Modern Carpentry to strengthen
the integrated learning solution and provide up-to-date information on the latest technology.
New author R. Jack Jones, a professor at Alfred State College, revised this edition for
the modern classroom. Mr. Jones updated content, wrote new features, and supplied
hundreds of new images to help engage students.
Expanded coverage of green building practices highlight industry trends toward greener
processes.
A new chapter providing coverage of building envelope and control layers emphasizes
today’s focus on green building practices and provides a proper understanding of how
environmental conditions impact a home.
Addition of Workplace Skills features that speak directly to the student and discuss soft
skills required for working in the carpentry field.
Content updated throughout text to incorporate current best practices and changing
codes to ensure students are taught the most up-to-date skills.
Chapter illustrations have been revised to reflect new technologies. In addition, new
