Projection Plane Orientation and
Surface Type Identification
For each of the four pictorial drawings,
imagine a frontal projection plane in front of the
object, a horizontal plane of projection above the
object, and a profile projection plane to the right,
as described in this unit. In the charts below, fill
in the number of surfaces oriented to each of
the three projection planes as indicated for each
column (parallel, perpendicular, or inclined).
Include all surfaces, even the bottom, back, and
left-side surfaces. The first object has been done for
you as an example. Also, enter the number of each
type of surface in the second chart. Note: The total
for each row of the first chart should be the same
and it should also match the total of the second
chart, as shown in the first problem.
