Expand the Data Collector Sets branch, and then select the System Analysis branch (the collector set just created). 11. In the right-hand pane, double-click Performance Counter to display the Performance Counter Properties dialog box. 12. Change the Sample interval: value to every five seconds. 13. Add the following: • Memory% Committed Bytes In Use • Network Interface Bytes Receive/sec • Network Interface Bytes Sent/sec 14. Click the File tab, and note the name of the log file created in the Example file name: text box. Click the OK button to close the Performance Counter Properties dialog box. 15. In the left-hand pane, right-click on the System Analysis branch, and click Start in the shortcut menu to begin collection. Let the collector run. During this time, use commands such as ping and nslookup, perform some calculations on the calculator, open and close various programs, and save a new file in a program. 16. After five minutes, right-click on the System Analysis branch, and click Stop in the shortcut menu to stop data collection. 17. In the left-side pane, expand the tree: Reports User Defined System Analysis. View the various panes to see the type of data collected. Expanding the Application counters displays your counters and the specific counters, including total counts and the mean. Create and save a screenshot of this setting. 18. Assume you want to track network traffic information from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays. Create a data collector set to support this. Create and save screenshots showing the properties of the counters you selected and the schedule you created. 19. Close the Performance Monitor and submit your lab to your instructor.
