Unit 1 Google Mail
Responding to Messages
At the bottom of every message received are options for the Gmail user
to reply to or forward the message. Reply opens a window allowing the
responder to enter a message and send it to the person who sent the message
without entering his or her e-mail address. When the original e-mail includes
more than one recipient, a
Reply to all
link is displayed. Reply to all sends
the response to the sender and anyone else who received the original e-mail.
Forward sends the e-mail to a new recipient. When forwarding a message, the
Gmail user needs to enter the e-mail address of the new recipient.
Attaching Files to Messages
Whether responding to a received message or creating a new message, Gmail
users can send fi les via e-mail. Attachments are the fi les sent via e-mail. People
send documents, presentations, and picture fi les, for example, via e-mail. There
are some rules regarding attachments. Google allows users to attach most fi le
types to messages, except executable (EXE) fi les. Executable fi les make a computer
perform tasks, and as a result they can be used to spread computer viruses.
Gmail users can attach multiple fi les to a message. However, the total
size of the attachments must be less than 25 megabytes (MB). As long as the
fi le type and size requirements are met, users can send attachments along
with their e-mail messages.
