Your e-portfolio may contain documents you have created. Scanned images
of items, such as awards and certifi cates, may also be included. You need to
decide which fi le formats you will use for electronic documents. You could use
the default format to save the documents. For example, you could use Microsoft
Word format for letters and essays. You could use Microsoft Excel format for
worksheets. Someone reviewing your e-portfolio would need programs that
open these formats to view your fi les. Another option would be to save or scan
documents as PDF (portable document format) fi les. These fi les can be viewed
with Adobe Reader software and some other programs. Having all of the fi les in
the same format can make viewing them easier for others who need to review
your portfolio. Also have a plan for providing your game builds to others. In
most cases, you will provide game builds as executable fi les.
1. Search the Internet and read articles to learn more about PDF documents.
Download a free program that opens these fi les, such as Adobe Reader.
2. Practice saving a Microsoft Word document as a PDF fi le. Note: Use the
Save As command. Refer to the Help link, if needed.
3. Create a list of the formats you will use to store your electronic fi les.

Problem-Solving Practices. Whether you see problems as
challenges or opportunities, they often require creative thinking
to solve them. Many new inventions come about from trying to
solve a problem. Describe a situation in your life or in history
where a problem led to the creation of a new way of doing things
or a new invention.
Writing. Conduct a short research project to answer the question,
“How is pseudo code used to allow programming teams to work
effi ciently and cooperatively?” Using information from multiple sources, write a
report on your response to this question.
