Custom Animation The art department provided more animation sets than will be used for this game. The animation sets that will not be used need to be removed. This will help to avoid having a large file size or a lag in loading the game. Reducing the file size is a best practice to avoid loading more content than will be used in the game. 51. Open Spiko in the image editor, and locate the list of animation sets, as shown in Figure 10-9. Animation sets with a black dot to the left of the name contain frames. The only animation sets needed will be Stop and Walking. 52. Right-click on the Crouch down animation set, and click Delete in the shortcut menu. The frames in the animation set are completely removed, but the name remains. 53. Applying what you have learned, delete all animation sets except Stopped and Walking. 54. Select the Walking animation set. 55. Select animation direction node 0. This is the animation that should be displayed when the character is walking to the right. 56. Click the Direction Options tab to display the playback settings for the animation set, as shown in Figure 10-10. 57. Set the Lower Speed to 32, Higher Speed to 32, Repeat to 0, Back to to 4, and check the Loop check box. These settings will allow Spiko only one walking speed. If the Lower Speed and Higher Speed were different, Spiko would be able to accelerate. The Back to setting tells the computer where to begin looping the animation. In this case, the loop will start at the fourth frame in the animation. 58. Click the Frames tab, and examine the frames for this animation. Notice how a walking loop is achieved with only Frame 4 through Frame 15. Frame 1, Frame 2, and Frame 3 get Spiko started moving from a standing position that he does not return to when walking.
