Select the desired name and that confi guration is displayed. Viewport confi gurations can be renamed and deleted using the Named Viewports tab of the Viewports dialog box. To rename a viewport confi guration, right-click on the name and pick Rename from the shortcut menu. To delete a viewport confi guration, pick Delete from the shortcut menu. You can also press the [Delete] key to delete the highlighted viewport confi guration. Pick OK to exit the dialog box. PROFESSIONAL TIP PROFESSIONAL TIP The -VPORTS command can be used to manage viewports on the command line. This may be required for some LISP programs where the dialog box cannot be used. Using the Model Viewports Panel The Model Viewports panel in the Visualize tab of the ribbon is shown in Figure 5-9. Picking the Named Viewports… button on the panel displays the Viewports dialog box with the Named Viewports tab active. The Join button is used to combine two viewports into a single viewport, as described in the next section. Picking the Restore Viewports button switches the display between a single viewport and the last multiple viewport confi guration displayed. If no previous multiple viewport confi guration has been displayed, picking this button displays a confi guration of four viewports. Expanding the Viewport Configuration drop-down list displays the 12 preset viewport confi gurations. Selecting a confi guration sets it current. Joining Two Viewports You can join two adjacent viewports in an existing confi guration to form a single viewport. This process is often quicker than creating an entirely new confi guration. However, the two viewports must form a rectangle when joined, Figure 5-10.
