Copyright Goodheart-Willcox Co., Inc. 404 AutoCAD and Its Applications—Advanced After selecting the points, a preview of the alignment appears and you are prompted to approve the registration. The process is repeated to register the remaining scan fi les. If you do not want to register the scan fi les, you can skip registration. This allows you to start indexing fi les without performing registration. If you decide to have the program register the scan fi les automatically, registration is completed once the scan fi les are imported. During automatic registration, the scan fi les are processed so that they align properly when indexed together. Once registration is completed, a report is generated and you have the opportunity to preview the alignment. If the results are suffi cient, you can proceed to indexing the scans. Indexing Scans Select Index scans on the Register scans screen to begin fi le indexing. An icon representing each fi le appears on the Index scans screen and the indexing progress is reported at the bottom of the screen. Once the fi les are indexed, select Launch project to begin working with the point cloud. NOTE NOTE Depending on your computer’s memory and speed, indexing may take some time to complete. Project Screen The Project screen appears when you launch or open a project. It allows you to make edits and changes to the display. See Figure 15-4. For example, you can control the point display, view the point cloud in different colors and lighting, create scan regions, and use standard navigation tools to adjust the view. After making changes, you can then save the project.
