Merchandise is expected to be returned to
retailers ready for sale in the same clean, tagged
condition as it was received.
Fashion show items are then grouped
into the planned merchandise categories,
emphasizing the trend details of the ideal
chart and a pleasing fl ow of outfi ts. Within the
categories, garments might be organized by
color, styling details, or design sophistication.
Mix-and-match pieces modeled in different
outfi ts should be on stage at the same time, or in
succession, to show that they can be worn together.
Model Selection
Fashion models are the people who wear
garments and accessories to promote them.
They should be able to promote outfi ts to the
audience by presenting them in a believable way.
How models wear and accessorize clothing is
aspired to by consumers who try to copy their
looks. Models can be selected to represent
different images and size ranges for fashion
shows, such as junior, plus size, male, senior, or
sophisticated high fashion. See 23-15.
Fashion show models must be attractive
and well-groomed, with good hair and skin.
They need not be beautiful, but should have a
