After an interview, you should always write
a thank-you letter. The letter should be brief.

a few words indicating your interest and your
strongest qualifications for the job, 23-19.
On-the-Job Skills
Once you have accepted a new job, the next
challenge is to keep it. It is assumed that you
will learn how to do your job and that you will
do it properly. However, there are many addi-
tional skills and actions that will determine your
success on the job. These skill areas include
grooming, attitude, work habits, business
etiquette, and health.
Grooming
Appearances do count. You may have taken
special care to look good at your interview,
but making a good appearance is important
throughout your working life. Your appearance
is the first thing that guests, coworkers, and
supervisors see.
People who work in foodservice have
specific sanitation-related grooming and dress
requirements. These requirements are discussed
in Chapter 9.
