Launching Applications
Like all applications in Windows, the Microsoft Office suite is
accessed via the
Start
or
Apps
menu. In Windows 10, click the
Start
menu
button, click
All
apps, and scroll to and expand the
Microsoft Office
group, as shown in Figure 4-1. In Windows 8, click the
Apps
menu button
to display the
Apps
menu. Then, scroll to the
Microsoft Office
group. In
Windows 7, click the
Start
menu button to display the
Start
menu. Then,
click
All Programs
followed by the
Microsoft Office
folder.
Launching Microsoft Word
To launch Microsoft Word, click the
Word 2016
icon in the
Start
or
Apps
menu. Wait for the program to load and display the startup screen.
Word 2016 begins by presenting the user with the choice to open a
document, begin a new blank document, or begin a document based on a
template.
A blank document contains no text and has a minimum number
of standard formatting styles. A document template is a document
preformatted for a specifi use and may contain placeholder text or fic
images the user replaces with actual content. Word contains many
templates. Templates are also found in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft
PowerPoint.
Microsoft Word is able to save documents in a variety of file formats.
For example, a document created in Microsoft Word 2016 can be saved
