ribbon, the user can customize it. Tabs that the user does not need can be
removed. If, however, at a future time, the user wishes to have the ribbon
appear with the original choices, it can be reset with one command.
To customize the ribbon, click the
Customize Ribbon
category in the
Options
dialog box. Then, add or remove buttons, groups, and tabs as
needed, as shown in Figure 4-24. To return the ribbon to its default state,
click the
Reset
button. Then, in the drop-down menu that is displayed,
choose to reset only the selected tab or the entire ribbon.

Office Options
The Microsoft Offi applications have default settings that will be acceptable to the greatest fice
number of users. However, many users prefer to customize option settings once they discover how they
are most comfortable working with the software.
1. Launch Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, or Microsoft Excel.
2. Click
File
Options. The
Options
dialog box is displayed with the
General
category active.
3. Locate the
Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office
area on the right-hand side of the dialog box.
4. Click in the
User name:
text box, and enter your fi rst and last name. This will be assigned as the fi
creator of any new documents you save.
