Hands-On Examples
Hands-On Examples guide students through concepts covered
in each section so they can learn skills by reading and by
doing. These activities provide an opportunity for independent
application of the skills at the point of introduction of content.
End-of-Chapter
End-of-chapter materials provide opportunities for review,
confi of learning, and applications of concepts. firmation
• A concise Summary reiterates the chapter learning goals and
provides a brief review of the content for student reference.
• Application and Extension of Knowledge activities challenge
students to self-refl what they learned in the chapter while flect
drawing from their own ideas, experiences, and projects.
• Online Vocabulary Activities provide an opportunity for
students to identify important vocabulary.
• Teamwork activities provide opportunities for collaboration k
and cooperative learning. This experience will help students
learn how to interact with others in a productive manner.
• Internet Research challenges students to put their Internet
and research skills to work. Focusing on a specific topic to fi
extract and analyze information helps students develop
employability skills.
• Communication Skills provide opportunities for
students to demonstrate the literacy and career skills they
have mastered. Students need good reading, writing,
speaking, and listening skills in today’s workplace.
• The Capstone Project at the conclusion of each chapter
guides students through creating a comprehensive,
spiraling project based on a selected career path. Data

Appendices
Two appendices are included at the end of the text.
Appendix A, Math Skills Review, provides an overview
of number sense, algebra, geometry, and statistics, as well
as examples for each. Capitalization, Punctuation, and
Number Expression are covered in Appendix B, which
provides instruction for appropriate usage of capital letters,
internal and external punctuation parks, and usage of
numbers as text and fi gures. These appendices can serve as fi
reference as students complete assignments in the chapters.
